Audition: Female Dancer for UK and American Tour of Penguins
Choreographer Carlos Pons Guerra and director Paul Mc Eneaney seek a female dancer to join the cast of Penguins for a 2019 Christmas run in the UK and a 2020 winter/spring tour of the United States.
Penguins is a heart-warming children’s dance theatre production co-produced by Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Cahoots NI and Prime Theatre. Based on a true story about two male chinstrap penguins in Central Park Zoo, who fall in love and hatch a little penguin chick; Penguins is a unique and engaging show for children about friendship, fun, identity and the ever changing meaning of family.
We are seeking:
A female dancer with excellent contemporary technique and classical training, maximum height approximately 1.60m, with great physical acting skills, and experience in character work- previous experience in children’s work a bonus. The ideal candidate will have good contemporary dance skills, floor work, good jumping, delicacy, classical line and great partnering. 1-3 years of professional experience, and experience touring with an independent company, will be highly valued.
We are looking for a charming female performer, with emotional depth and physical acting gravitas, to play a thoughtful young girl, and also a highly active, whirlwind but sweet baby penguin, that will connect with young audiences. The role requires no text work, so the candidates must have exceptional abilities to communicate story physically.

Rehearsals: (Birmingham): 18th November - 1st December
Run: (Birmingham Repertory Theatre): December 2019
American Tour: Feb - April 2020
Fees: In accordance with Equity minimum
